Wedding Invitation Contest! Win $100!

If you know me you realize I am engaged to the Ginger. We really want to have creative and amazing invites that is why we have decided the coolest possible idea would be to have a contest!

We aren’t going to give many details about ourselves beyond what is on our blogs as we want anyone who enters to not feel limited by us. So we want you to go nuts and make an invite! We will be giving away $100 dollars cash for the invite we pick. The deadline for entries is May 25th, 2009 and we will pick the winner by June 1st 2009.

Rules:
  • Send us a mock up right away, afterward we will ask for a high quality .psd or .pdf file.
  • You do not have to put the information in. Just give us an idea of what it would look like.
  • We have the right not to pick a winner.
  • We will not use your design if we do not pick it.
  • You need a PayPal account or something to that extent for us to give you the money.

I am really excited to see what everyone can come up with. Send your entries to fictoris@gmail.com and we will get back to you soon. Make sure to stumble this and tell any of your friends that are aspiring designers!

Resume's and Awesomeness

So Today I woke up to find that I got an email from a president of a company. They actually want me to work for them when I am done with college. It just left a very good impression that the owner of the company sent me an email asking to meet with me and to get my resume on a Sunday nonetheless.

Either way, the person that emailed me is the president of a Sharepoint shop here in North Dakota. They are actually expanding right now and I am quite excited to even be offered a job.

So that is all I have today, hopefully I will have some more pictures to put up soon. Either that or I will rant about Sharepoint or Flash development because that is my whole next week.

Forging Through the Great Outdoors

For some reason I decided this morning that I wanted to be the first person to go outside our apartment. What was my great expedition? Taking out the garbage. First the preparation for wandering outside:

Looks pretty awesome doesn't it. We figured if I got rid of some of the red I could be the steel toed ninja. Next is me pushing through the door. There was a good couple of feet of snow in front of it.

See those tracks? Those are my tracks and they are the only tracks in that snow. It is kind of exhilarating or maybe that was worrying about that other really big drift falling on my head. Next it the next biggest drift and the last one I had to push through to get to the garbage can.

Pretty sweet isn't it? but you can't really tell how deep it is. But now you can!

Those are my knees. I am not touching the sidewalk at all which is a bad sign. It wasn't too hard to push through though. And now for my view after I made it to the garbage can.

It is a nice parking lot. Very rarely does it get cleaned. The red car is the Ginger's car. I figured I would take one more picture on my way back in.

Pretty awesome drifts in front of the cars. That ends my journey and gets the garbage out of the house. Nothing is ever as fun as being the first person to forge through the snow in the morning. Hopefully you all liked sharing it with me.

Cold and Cruddy

This was my first view today. The ice frozen quite solidly upon a windshield.

These windows are gorgeous. Even through the snow.

It's so cold that even the trees are turning white!

The hardly beaten path.

Just the snow in the VCSU yard.

Twitter makes me Happy

I have decided that Twitter is a happy thing and I really like to spread it around. Why do I evangelize the Twitter? Mostly because it is just fun. I have met quite a few really good people through Twitter and even at one point got a job offer.

Now at one point I could not find a single person in North Dakota that was using Twitter. Now after much searching I think about 40 percent of the 120 some people I am following are from North Dakota. I like to think I have caused 30 or so people from the state to jump on and join. My first conquest was @Janana or as you know her The Ginger. After I convinced her that Twitter was cool all the other people I have got on here has been easy.

So I hope you jump on Twitter if you are not a part of it and if you are start following me @Fictoris.

The Video Wars

Hello All you Happy Peoples!

Why is it so hard to upload a video over ten minutes on the internet? I was fighting most of the morning trying to find somewhere to put the second episode of VCSU News. (Yes I know shameless self promotion) The biggest thing though is it is 13 minutes long. YouTube will not accept videos over ten minutes unless you are a partner. The thing is, they do not tell you how to become a partner. Lovely, I know.

So next I went to MetaCafe. Very good actually but I did not realize there was some crazy review process so I waited for a bit. After that I gave up and moved over to DailyMotion. They are alright problem was their upload system keboshed my sound. It just magically was bad mid way through the video. So I started to re-render the video hoping it was something on my side.

Then in curiosity I checked MetaCafe again and bam! My video is up and looks great. So they have my vote for now. I hope all of you watch VCSU News in the process though!

Starting Over

After noticing the Ginger got a blog I figured I had to jump back into doing this or else I would probably be letting down my computer nerding roots. So here I am world, check me out!

At this point I would like to just give a brief idea of what I do and who I am.
I am Cameron, some call me Fictoris. I do programming in whatever you can think of and if I don't know it I tend to like the challenge to learn. I love Linux with a fervent passion but I love my recent Fiance more. I have sold out to the man as of late and am doing Microsoft Sharepoint development.

I do have a few other projects that are a little less computer related such as VCSU Student Senate. I do go to Valley City State University for a Computer Information Systems degree. Another fun project at this point is "producing" VCSU News. Producing is in quotes because well, that's the only word I can think of for it.

Either way, that is me. We will see where this goes.
